Constipation
Constipation results when the solid wastes in the large intestines remain for too long. The excessive reabsorptive action of the large intestines causes the solid wastes to become hard and dry. Poor habits of elimination usually cause this digestive problem. Usually a proper diet, consisting of lots of fiber, is important aside from practicing a regular bowel movement.
Constipation
Fiber is usually obtained from fresh fruits, vegetables and grains. Additionally, you can remedy yourself with common herbal medications. Laxatives are usually given to constipated patients. Some herbs or fruits are known natural laxatives, like papaya. Eating a papaya or any laxative fruit gives additional health benefits too.
Sometimes various disorders of the digestive system can contribute to constipation. Should there be no change in the condition of your constipation after taking herbal remedies or over-the-counter drugs, you should consult your doctor.
